Week 3, day 2

Articles published today:

Other article I worked on:

In the morning, I worked on a food piece to be published on February 1st since that's going to be the start of Black History Month. I think the "challenging" parts about this article were 1) finding a way to write the introduction to the article with an appropriate tone of voice, and 2) finding a balance between the cultures I was featuring through the cuisines of Black-owned restaurants.

After lunch, I got assigned my first weather post. I think we only do these when it's something about the weather that sticks out (in the sense that we don't usually write about the weather anytime). However, I found it hard to reach a higher word count, since there isn't much to say about the weather, but I found ways of adding more in order to make weather a little more interesting to read about. I've learned that there's no expected word count, but that I should try to go above 200 words, ideally above 300 for the SEO light to turn green.

And finally, the last article I wrote was a photo round-up of the snowmen I've been seeing on Instagram. I thought it would be a fun piece to write and read, and that it would probably do well on the website as well.
