There wasn't anything assigned to me today, so I did my usual round of Instagram and TikTok to see what was around, and if anything was worth writing about. I usually also go through my Google News app after, since I've set my news preferences on Montreal, the South Shore, and different boroughs around the city. I find it's the easiest way to look for local news when I'm looking for things to pitch because everything is there at the same place. I also like to see how other news outlets write about certain topics so that I can try to find another angle.
Going through TikTok, I found this one video of a Cirque du Soleil performer from Montreal who does wild stunts and shows them off on social media—I thought it was a cool enough story so I pitched it, and I'm glad I did because it was really fun to write. It had also not been covered by MTLBlog, our main competitor, so I was pretty happy about that.
