Today was my first full day of work, and I'm slowly starting to feel like I'm getting the hang of things. I had two assignments, and from the feedback I got, my style of writing is pretty well adapted to what the Daily Hive is looking for — I need to focus on getting the formatting down.
For example, I learned how to embed an Instagram picture into a post, but there's apparently been a bug in the HTML code that makes the caption appear on the post even when it's been purposely removed, which can make the piece more visually heavy especialy if the person added a lot of hashtags. So Tyler, the Montreal writer I'm working under, showed me how to change the code to fix the glitch.
It's small things like this that I feel I want to get familiar with as soon as possible: they might be very minor details, but formatting matters so much in digital journalism, I couldn't see myself being behind on things like this when I get hired for a full-time job.
